WESTLAKE, Ohio — Several local agencies responded to a condominium complex fire Sunday to assist the Westlake Fire Department.
The Courtyard Condominiums, located at 28100 Detroit Road, caught fire around 11: 30 a.m. this morning.
As residents evacuated, flames could be seen shooting from the roof of the building.
Crews worked quickly to extinguish the blaze, but not before it severely damaged at least three units. According to reports, several pets were also lost in the fire.
One resident at the complex told 3News that the fire burned quickly.
One firefighter was taken to a local hospital for possible heat exhaustion, according to Westlake Fire Chief, James Hughes.
Avon, Avon Lake, Bay Village, Fairview Park, North Olmsted, Rocky River, and North Ridgeville all sent crews to the scene to assist with the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
