WOOSTER, Ohio — One person was taken to the hospital after being rescued from a house fire on West North Street in Wooster on Tuesday afternoon.
It was shortly before 5 p.m. when the Wooster Fire Department responded to the scene and “found heavy fire and smoke from a two-story house.”
A post on the department’s Facebook page says their crews were directed to the basement by bystanders who said somebody was still inside the residence.
Firefighters entered the basement and rescued the person inside before they were transported to Wooster Community Hospital. Fire officials did not report on the person’s condition.
The Wooster Fire Department says the house is a total loss after the flames “quickly spread to the second floor and attic.”
A cause was not listed, but the situation is now under investigation by the Wooster Fire Investigation Unit.
