CLEVELAND — Ringing in the new year comes with the extra excitement of big Mega Millions and Powerball jackpot drawings set for Friday and Saturday.
The New Year’s Eve Mega Millions® jackpot is $221 million with a cash option of $159.6 million, and the New Year’s Day Powerball® jackpot is $483 million with a cash option of $347.7 million.
People have been dreaming about what they might be able to do with that kind of money from these top prizes for a while, now both drawings last big winners having come more than two months ago.
The Mega Millions jackpot has been rolling since it was last won on October 22, and the Powerball jackpot has been growing larger and larger since its last top prize was claimed on October 4.
Mega Millions tickets are $2 each. Players can purchase the Megaplier for an additional $1 for a chance to multiply non-jackpot winning prizes. Drawings are held on Tuesdays and Fridays.
