Here's how you can cash in with Powerball, even if you don't hit all the numbers for $1B jackpot

Although the Powerball jackpot is worth $1 billion, there are a total of 26 secondary prizes that are up for grabs.

CLEVELAND — The Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots total upwards of $1.7 billion this week, but there are many other ways to win if you don't match all of the numbers.

"It's purely luck," said Ohio Lottery communications director Danielle Frizzi-Babb.

There are a total of 26 secondary prizes that you could win from the Powerball drawing. It depends on which "Power Play," is chosen during each drawing, but Frizzi-Babb told 3News that the secondary prizes are set for each drawing.

"Those prizes are fixed," said Frizzi-Babb. "Those don't ever change. The only thing that changes is the jackpot."

The Powerball "Prize Chart" indicates the nine ways to win, from $4 all the way to the grand prize.

"The one that we really like to talk about the most is if you match five, but you miss the Powerball," said Frizzi-Babb.

Frizzi-Babb told 3News those who match five numbers, but miss the Powerball number win $1 million.

The odds to win the Powerball jackpot are one in more than 292 million, but to win $50,000 your odds get better at one in 913,000.

"A billion dollars is a lot of money, $720 million in the Mega Millions is a lot too," said Frizzi-Babb. "It would be really fun to see somebody in Ohio win one or both of those."

While the dream is to hit the jackpot, there are plenty of other ways to win.

Consider that in the past week in Northeast Ohio, we've seen plenty of lottery success. In Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing, there was a $1 million ticket sold in Brook Park. Last week, a woman from Brooklyn won $1 million for 20 years from an Ohio Lottery scratch-off ticket.

Good luck!
