COPLEY, Ohio — 12-year-old Molly Catalano is on a mission. For the last few weeks she’s been crafting homemade yellow and blue bracelets in an effort to raise money for those impacted by the war in Ukraine.
To date, she has raised more than $600 by selling her bracelets in exchange for donations.
"Being nice matters in life and I want to be an example for others,” Molly tells 3News. "I saw so many kids crying because they had to leave their dads and I couldn’t imagine how that feels. I hope what my mom and I are doing can make a difference for some kids.”
Her mom, Jen, said her company – UBS Financial Services – is also matching the donations being collected by Molly’s efforts.
“To say how proud we are of Molls is an understatement,” Jen says.
This isn’t the first time Molly has focused on charitable efforts.
“Molly’s desire to helping others has been in her heart for quite some time,” Jen continues. “She has donated her hair to Wigs for Kids in memory of my friend, Laura Allio, who passed from breast cancer. She baked with Laura’s son, James, to raise money for the L4 project. She raised money with her cupcakes, and Regina’s Pizza matched her and she was able to give back $500 for the foundation.”
