JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — 10:15 a.m. Sunday update: Mayor Donna Deegan has responded to the videos:
“I’m aware of several disturbing videos circulating from yesterday’s game. I have spoken to Sheriff Waters and the incidents are under investigation. We are awaiting the outcome of that investigation.”
A video circulating on social media appears to show two fans being punched by two officers during Saturday's Georgia-Florida game at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville.
The video, posted to X, has garnered millions of views.
At one point in the video, one of the men in uniform appears to punch a fan at least seven times.
At the same time, another officer is seen punching another fan on the ground.
First Coast News reached out to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and received the following response:
"The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office’s Professional Standards Division is aware of the videos circulating from the Georgia-Florida football game. Administrative reviews of the incidents are being opened. As such, the agency will not comment until all facts are known and the reviews have been completed."
Video of separate incident shows officer use stun gun on fan
This wasn't the first video appearing to show an altercation involving officers at the Georgia-Florida game.
In a separate video, a man is seen arguing with an officer before another officer deploys a stun gun on the man.
The man then gets up from his seat and tries to remove the wires from the stun gun while shouting at the officer.
The officer then appears to deploy the stun gun a second time, and the man falls into the row ahead of him.
First Coast News reached out to JSO regarding this video and we are waiting to hear back. A University of Florida spokesperson declined to comment.
