One person is dead and at least seven others are injured after a crash involving 10 vehicles occurred around 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Ohio State Highway Patrol confirms.
Highway Patrol says a young female child was killed, and those injured were taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center and Toledo St. Vincent Hospital.
Investigations at the scene determined a commercial semi was traveling eastbound in a single lane construction zone and failed to stop with assured clear distance.
The commercial vehicle then struck nine separate vehicles and the traffic crash caused significant back-ups on the Ohio Turnpike eastbound and westbound.
Ohio Turnpike crews now have all eastbound and westbound lanes open at Mile Marker 110.
Ohio State Highway Patrol's Berea Patrol Post says crews worked to knock down a concrete barrier in a construction zone to turn cars around westbound.
