CLEVELAND — The Plain Dealer News Guild is continuing its efforts to save jobs by rallying for reader subscriptions.
According to a post on its Facebook page, the guild has asked its publishing company to preserve the job of one journalist for a year in exchange for every 500 subscriptions.
"This plan offers a chance to preserve the jobs of Cleveland journalists and to support the union pressmen who proudly produce our paper," the post says.
Plans for a subscription drive are in the works as the guild has asked Plain Dealer Editor and President George Rodrigue to suspend impending layoffs for three weeks.
