COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police has identified three men who were shot and killed on the city’s north side early Saturday morning. Three others were wounded in the shooting.

Officers were called out to the area of East 5th Avenue and Summit Street between the Italian Village and Weinland Park neighborhoods around 2:45 a.m. on reports of a shooting. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene while a third victim was pronounced dead at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center just before 3:30 a.m.

Those victims were identified by police as 27-year-old Malachi Pee, 18-year-old Da’ondre Bullock and 26-year-old Garcia Dixon Jr.

Other shooting victims were taken to nearby hospitals. Police describe two of the victims' conditions as "stable," while another victim was taken in critical condition. According to police, they are expected to survive their injuries.

It is unclear what led up to the shooting. No suspect information has been released at this time.

In an update Saturday morning, Bodker said there are witnesses to the shooting who have been cooperating with authorities.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is assisting in the investigation with the use of a drone, Bodker said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477 (TIPS).

A spokesperson from Mayor Andrew Ginther's office released the following statement to 10TV:

"Police are still investigating last night’s events so we may better understand what transpired. Although we continue to lead the nation in violent crime reduction with the fewest number of homicides year to date than in the last eight years, this has been a particularly difficult and tragic week for our community and our officers. We will remain vigilant and diligent in our prevention, intervention and enforcement efforts to strengthen safety and security across Columbus.”
