COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Mike DeWine congratulated Donald Trump and fellow Ohio native JD Vance on winning the 2024 presidential race.
The Associated Press and other media outlets projected Trump and Vance defeated Vice President Kamala Harris early Wednesday morning.
DeWine posted on X celebrating the victories of Trump, Vance and Bernie Moreno, who defeated Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown for Ohio's U.S. Senate seat.
"Congratulations to President Donald Trump and to our fellow Buckeye and Vice President-elect JD Vance on their election victory!," DeWine wrote. "Congratulations to Ohio’s Senator-elect Bernie Moreno who will be part of a new Senate Republican majority in Washington!"
During the primaries, Trump endorsed Moreno in the Senate race. DeWine opted to endorse rival candidate Matt Dolan. The governor endorsed Moreno after Dolan lost.
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose also offered his congratulations to Trump and Vance.
"As Ohio goes, so goes the nation! What an incredible moment for our country. Congratulations to President Trump and to our new Vice President, Ohio’s own @JDVance, on a massive, historic victory."
