COLUMBUS, Ohio — "We just ask everyone, be careful," Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said on Friday during his afternoon press conference.
After a reporter asked how Governor DeWine feels about possible future campaign events in the state following President Trump's COVID-19 diagnosis, DeWine said that he just wants people to take precautions wherever they go.
"That includes churches, that includes if you're going to a funeral, that includes if you're going to a political rally," DeWine said, "Wherever you're going to, you just have to assume that there are people there that are positive [for the Coronavirus]."
This comes less than two weeks after President Trump held several Ohio campaign rallies where many individuals were not wearing masks or social distancing.
After a second reporter pushed further on the question, and asked whether Governor DeWine thinks it would just be safer to move all political campaign events online, DeWine discussed the issue further.
"We're trying to learn to live with this," Governor DeWine said, "I would not make an exception for campaigns. Say that campaigns should just be totally virtual. We're not saying that about other things in society."
