CLEVELAND — On the July 31, 2024 edition of Ohio Has Issues, the word of the day is "VOTE."
Stephanie Haney and Mike Polk Jr. take us through lots of important voter information, from key dates you need to know, scams to avoid, and what ID is required at the polls, to what your elected officials are saying about the power of your vote, and why neither Senate candidate got the vote of approval from the Fraternal Order of Police this year.
We give context to comments about parents and the power of their vote made by US Senator and GOP Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance, tell you Gov. Mike DeWine and former Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice and Republican Lt. Gov. Maureen O'Connor say about the proposed redistricting amendment, and bring you up to speed on the effect Vice President Harris running for the presidency is expected to have on Ohio's voter turnout in November, with the help of Cleveland.com's Jeremy Pelzer.

Plus, we share what Ohio law just got struck down by a federal court for interfering with voting help for people with disabilities. League of Women Voters of Ohio Executive Director Jen Miller joins us to talk about that victory.
And we introduce you to a new bipartisan group, called the Democracy Defense Project, that's hoping to help rebuild trust in elections in what they consider to be 7 battleground states across the country (somehow including Ohio in that mix). Former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell (R) and former US Representative for Ohio Zack Space (D) represent Ohio, and they chat with us about their mission.
