Did your school district's levy pass? See results from Northeast Ohio voters in Tuesday's election

Some of the school districts with levies and bonds on the ballot included Parma City School District and Nordonia Hills City School District.

Several schools districts in Northeast Ohio asked voters to consider levies or bond issues on the ballot during the 2022 midterm election on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

3News compiled a list of some of key school levies on the ballot and have broken down the results by county in Northeast Ohio:

Cuyahoga County 

Parma City School District: Proposed Bond Issue - FAILED by a margin of 52.44% to 47.56%

  • A proposed bond issue in the Parma City School District will be on the Nov. 8 ballot for $194,500,000, to be repaid over the course of 36 years. If passed, the money will go towards constructing a brand-new high school. The Parma City School District released projections of what the new high school would look like, which can be viewed in the video below. If passed, the bond for 3.95 mills would cost the homeowner of a $100,000 home $11.53 per month.

North Olmsted City School Districts: Combined levy and bond issue - PASSED by a margin of 51.83% to 48.17%

  • The North Olmsted City School District is placing a combined 7.8 mill issue on the ballot, made up of a 5-mill operating levy and a $58 million bond issue. The operating levy will go towards addressing the district's looming budget deficit as well as preventing millions in cuts to educational programming. The bond issue will create a new Pre-K to fifth-grade facility and reduce operating costs short-term and long-term. Read more HERE.

Rocky River School District: Proposed Tax Levy - PASSED by a margin of 52.23% to 47.77%

  • The Rocky River School District is asking for residents to approve of a 4.9 mill tax levy that will go towards the current expenses of the school district, including high-quality academics, school safety as well as activities and athletic programs for all students. Read more HERE

Bay Village School District: Proposed Tax Levy - PASSED by a margin of 57.76% to 42.24%

  • The Bay Village School District is proposing a 7.2 mill levy on the general election ballot. If passed, the levy funds would support the programs the school offers its students.

Geauga County 

Cardinal Local School District: Proposed Tax Levy - PASSED by a margin of 58.49% to 41.51%

  • The Cardinal Local School District has a renewal tax levy on the ballot for the Nov. 8 election. The renewal levy will ensure that Cardinal can meet its financial obligations for the future. The levy, which was first passed in 1992 is up for renewal every five years. If passed, the taxes will stay the same for residents and the school will continue to generate $3.1 million annually.

Lorain County

North Ridgeville School District: Proposed Bond Issue - FAILED by a margin of 53.75% to 46.25%

  • An 8.65 mill bond issue will be on the ballot on Nov. 8 for residents in the North Ridgeville School District. If approved, the bond will generate $190 million, which will be used to construct a new high school, elementary school performing arts center, space for Ranger High Tech Academy and a transportation/maintenance facility.  If passed, homeowners will owe $25.23 per month for every $100,000 of the total market value of their home.

North Ridgeville School District: Proposed Tax Levy - FAILED by a margin of 60.55% to 39.45%

  • If passed, the .2% city income tax increase will fund a community center attached to the high school. The community center will contain a field house, an indoor track, an aquatic center, a fitness center and a senior center. The increase will not impact residents without income, as well as seniors/retirees, if the levy passes. 

**Both issues must pass in order for the plan to work.

Lorain County Community College: Proposed Tax Levy - PASSED by a margin of 66.92% to 33.08%

  • The Lorain County Community College Board of Trustees is placing a 2.1 mill renewal levy on the Nov. 8 ballot. If passed, the money will go towards university partnership, continuing job preparation and education services, as well as property improvements. Taxes for residents will remain the same. 

Midview Local School District: Proposed Tax Levy - FAILED by a margin of 52.49% to 47.51%

  • A substitute levy will be placed on the Nov. 8 ballot, which will allow Midview Local Schools to maintain the necessary requirements. The 9.03 mill tax levy will not increase taxes for current residents. Currently, two separate levies, which combine for $6.2 million for the district each year, expire at the end of 2023. The renewal has been made a substitute levy to avoid the need for multiple renewals.  

Columbia Local School District: Proposed Tax Levy - PASSED by a margin of 63.78% to 36.22%

  • A 5.5 mill renewal tax levy will be on the ballot for residents in the Columbia Local School District. If passed, the funding will go toward the school’s current expenses. Taxes for residents will remain the same. 

Lake County

Painesville City Local School District: Proposed Tax Levy - PASSED by a margin of 60.29% to 39.71%

  • Painesville City Local School District will have a renewal tax levy on the Nov. 8 ballot. If passed, the money from the renewal levy will go toward the district’s current operating expenses. Taxes will stay the same for residents if passed.

Willoughby-Eastlake City School District: Proposed Tax Levy - PASSED by a margin of 61.52% to 38.48%

  • A renewal tax levy will be on the ballot for voters in the Willoughby-Westlake City School District. If passed, the money from the levy will go towards emergency requirements. Taxes will stay the same for residents if the renewal levy is passed.

Medina County 

Brunswick City School District: Proposed Bond Issue - FAILED by a margin of 52.40% to 47.60%

  • The Brunswick City School District is placing a 3.9 mill bond issue on the Nov. 8 ballot. If passed, the bond will fund the implementation of the Master Facilities Plan, which includes a plan to build a new high school with a performing arts center, a new board of education office, a synthetic turf multi=purpose field, tennis courts, baseball field as well as improvements to Applewood and Kidder Elementary School.  If approved, construction in the district will begin in 2023. 

Cloverleaf Local School District: Proposed Tax Levy - PASSED by a margin of 51.84% to 48.16%

  • A renewal tax levy is being placed on the ballot by the Cloverleaf Local School District. The 4.2 mill levy will go towards emergency requirements. If passed, taxes will stay the same for residents.

Summit County 

Copley-Fairlawn School District: Proposed Bond Issue - PASSED by a margin of 55.93% to 44.07%

  • The proposed bond issue for $50 million is to be repaid annually over the maximum 30-year-period. The bond money will be used to renovate, repair, improve and construct additions to the existing school buildings, athletic facilities and infrastructure. If passed, residents would pay 29.8 cents for each $100 of tax valuation.

Nordonia Hills City School District: Proposed Bond Issue - FAILED by a margin of 63.78% to 36.22%

  • The proposed bond issue for $165 million is to be repaid annually over a maximum of a 37-year-period if it passes. The bond money will be used for the purpose of constructing, adding to, renovating, remodeling, furnishing, equipping and improving of the district's buildings. If passed, residents in the district would pay 77.5 cents for every $100 of tax valuation.

Stow-Munroe Falls City School District: Proposed Tax Levy - PASSED by a margin of 52.85% to 47.15%

  • The district is proposing an additional 6.93 mill tax levy that would provide for emergency requirements within the school district. If passed, the new levy of 6.93 mills will help to maintain daily operations, teachers, staff, programs and utilities. Read more HERE.

Springfield Local School District: Proposed Tax Levy - FAILED by a margin of 52.63% to 47.37%

  • An additional 3.9 mill tax levy will be voted upon for the current expenses of the Springfield Local School District. The levy would amount to 39 cents for each $100 of valuation for five years.
