CLEVELAND — While much of the attention of Tuesday's primary election was dominated by the race for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination, there were still several important school levies and bond issues on the ballot across Northeast Ohio.
3News' Education Station reporter Danielle Wiggins covered a number of these races, most of which reached their conclusion Tuesday night.
Below is the list, broken down by county, of some of the key school levies and bond issues on the ballot in Northeast Ohio:
ASHTABULA COUNTY
Ashtabula Area City School District | Tax levy
If passed, the money will go toward the district's current expenses.
- Length of levy: Continuing period of time
- Millage: 2.9
UNOFFICIAL RESULT:
- For the Bond Issue: 1,248 votes - 33.44%
- Against the Bond Issue: 2,484 votes - 66.56%
Buckeye Local School District | Combined tax levy and bond issue
If passed, the money will go toward constructing, furnishing and equipping a new Pre-K-12 school. Additionally, the money will go towards a new athletic stadium and general permanent improvements.
- Length of levy: Containing period of time/37 years
- Dollar amount: $46.6 million
- Millage: 0.5
UNOFFICIAL RESULT:
- For the Bond Issue: 622 - 25.28%
- Against the Bond Issue: 1,838 - 74.72%
CUYAHOGA COUNTY
Brooklyn City School District | Bond issue
The Brooklyn City School District has placed a $20 million bond issue on the March ballot. If passed, the money will go towards constructing, adding to, renovating, remodeling, furnishing and improving district buildings.
- Length of levy: 37 years
- Dollar amount: $20 million
UNOFFICIAL RESULT:
- For the Bond Issue: 881 votes - 50.17%
- Against the Bond Issue: 875 votes - 49.83%
Note: There are still a number of mail-in and provisional ballots outstanding. If the final margin remains within 0.5%, then the race will go to an automatic recount, per Ohio law.
Richmond Heights Local School District | Combined tax levy and bond issue
If passed, the money will go toward constructing, furnishing, and equipping school facilities as well as renovating and improving existing facilities. Additionally, money will be used for current operating expenses.
- Length of levy: Continuing period of time /37 years
- Millage: 5.6/5.85
- Dollar amount: $15.4 million
UNOFFICIAL RESULT:
- For the Bond Issue and Levies: 647 votes - 30.58%
- Against the Bond Issue and Levies: 1,469 votes - 69.42%
Cuyahoga Heights Local School District | Tax levy
According to Cuyahoga Heights Schools, if passed, the funds would help maintain excellent educational services and support necessary building repairs.
- Length of levy: Continuing period of time
- Millage: 8
- Dollar amount: $3.5 million
UNOFFICIAL RESULT:
- For the Tax Levy: 782 votes - 52.41%
- Against the Tax Levy: 710 votes - 47.59%
Garfield Heights City School District | Tax levy
UNOFFICIAL RESULT:
- For the Tax Levy: 1,120 votes - 47.60%
- Against the Tax Levy: 1,233 votes - 52.40%
MEDINA COUNTY
If passed, the money will go toward current operating expenses and supporting students. Medina City Schools are seeking the levy to achieve stability, consistency, reduced election costs and long-term planning.

- Millage: 7.5
- Dollar amount: $14.4 million
UNOFFICIAL RESULT:
- For the Tax Levy: 5,848 votes - 47.28%
- Against the Tax Levy: 6,521 votes - 52.72%
PORTAGE COUNTY
If passed, the funding will go toward emergency requirements for the Ravenna City School District.
- Length of levy: 5 years
- Millage: 6.9
- Dollar amount: $2.7 million
UNOFFICIAL RESULT:
- For the tax levy - 1,588 - 43.41%
- Against the tax levy - 2,156 - 57.59%
STARK COUNTY
If passed, the money will go toward current operating expenses.
- Length of levy: 5 years
- Millage: 9.5
UNOFFICIAL RESULT:
- For the Tax Levy: 4,162 votes - 53.61%
- Against the Tax Levy: 3,602 - 46.39%
Marlington Local School District | Tax levy
If passed, the money will go toward general permanent improvements.
- Length of levy: 5 years
- Millage: 2.9
UNOFFICIAL RESULT:
- For the Tax Levy: 1,238 votes - 33.97%
- Against the Tax Levy: 2,406 votes - 66.03%
SUMMIT COUNTY
According to the Keep Mogadore Schools Strong, the levy will fund a portion of the forecasted deficit at the end of next school year. The district had to cut 5% of its expenses at the end of last year.
- Length of levy: 5 years
- Millage: 5.9
UNOFFICIAL RESULT:
- For the Tax Levy: 615 - 46.64%
- Against the Tax Levy: 703 - 53.34%
The district will appropriate the funds to benefit the district by allocating them to three primary areas: Capital improvements for aging school facilities and systems, enhancement of educational programs and safety and security improvements.
