COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine addressed the recent passing of Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg during Tuesday afternoon's press conference.
"Putting aside decisions, put aside politics... ideology, her life story is an inspiration," Governor DeWine said, "She continued to inspire people as she fought different health challenges, and wherever you sit on the political spectrum, you had to be inspired by her."
In addition to asking for his thoughts on Ginsburg's passing, the Ohio Governor was also asked where he stands on the recent efforts to put a new judge on the bench ahead of the 2020 Presidential election.
"What I always said at the time, was that as far as making a judgment, I would not make a judgement until we had had the opportunity to take a look at that individual," DeWine said, "I'm going to leave it to my friends in the Senate who will be voting there."
DeWine continued by saying that it would be up to Ohio's Senators, Rob Portman (R) and Sherrod Brown (D), to decide what happens with the potential confirmation process.
"Senator Brown, Senator Portman, they're the ones who are there representing Ohio, not Mike DeWine," said the Governor, "I'm focused today on what I need to be focused on, which is where the state is going, how we're fighting the COVID, how we're bringing jobs back- back to Ohio- and I'm going to stay focused on that."
