CLEVELAND — It’s vet visit number two for our service dog in training, Roxy.
At 12 weeks old she weighed in at 22 pounds and successfully completed her second round of puppy shots.
Dr. Lydia Rust from Apple Hill Animal Hospital says Roxy makes her job easy, no issues getting her nails cut or taking all the treats she’s offered.
There was only one “messy” issue handler Kayla DeLorenzo reported.
“We figured out that she has anxiety when we put her in the cage when we leave. She nervously poops and she scratches at the poop and it just kind of flings everywhere."
But they've already found a solution.
“Our other two dogs, they're in a cage together so we put both cages together so that way she's comforted by other dogs."
An easy fix to a common problem.
"I really liked their solution to bring the other dogs closer so that she wouldn't feel alone,” Dr. Rust said.

Everything seems to be back on track now so they're continuing training, transitioning to a new feeding schedule and socializing her.
“Her personality is coming out, she's so playful, she's definitely gaining confidence,” DeLorenzo said.
It’s something she’ll need for her big job ahead!
Next month, Roxy will round out her puppy vaccinations.
