Sloth bear cub makes public debut at Cleveland Zoo

Un-bear-ably cute!

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on Thursday introduced one of its cutest new residents to the public.

The zoo's sloth bear cub, born in January, made its first public appearance Thursday.

A reindeer calf born April 3 is also now on display.

The cub was born Jan. 14 to 4-year-old mother Shiva and 13-year-old father Balawat. Zoo staff has yet to determine the cub's sex.

Naming opportunities for the cub will come in upcoming weeks.

Sloth bears, which are considered a vulnerable species, can grow to weigh up to 300 pounds. The zoo says they exhibit several distinct behaviors, such as sloth bear cubs, who ride on their mothers' backs for their first six months.
