CANTON, Ohio — Wednesday is the day.
Medical marijuana dispensaries in Ohio are preparing to open their doors for the first time.
Hundreds are expected to visit The Botanist in Canton starting at 9:00 a.m. Some, like Lynda Saho, traveled more than an hour from her hometown on Tuesday to see if it was open yet.
Inside The Botanist is a retail shop where patients can purchase medical marijuana and product like vaping devices. At the start, they will only have flower products and plant material available since none of the license processors are online yet.
Eventually the plan is to include edibles, lotions, and oils.
It's been two years in the making. On Wednesday morning, the doors will officially open.
"I've never, ever used marijuana in my life. I'm surprised at my age, at 66, that I'm going to try this," Saho told us.
She says she suffered a broken back and two knee replacements, but has found no relief in her prescription pain medication.
"I need to get my life back. I can't work, I can't walk. I can't be with my grandchildren," Saho explains.
At this point, medical marijuana is her last resort.
Lynda says she will be back at The Botanist on Wednesday morning along with many others expected to line up. Keep in mind that there is a limited inventory, at least for now.
The Botanist is planning to open up four other locations, including ones in Akron, Cleveland, and Columbus.
