SANDUSKY -- The cost to skyrocket into the sky on Cedar Point's new SlingShot thrill ride has been revealed.
Cedar Point spokesperson Bryan Edwards confirms the price to ride SlingShot is $25, which is in addition to park admission. Edwards did not indicate if the $25 charge is per person or per twosome since the ride holds two people. We have reached out for clarification and will update this story when the information becomes available.
Edwards says a 10 percent discount will be given to all Platinum passholders.
Earlier this week, it was announced that SlingShot will open to the general public on Wednesday, July 2. Although Cedar Point employees have been riding it for the last few days, SlingShot does't open to the general public until Wednesday.
SlingShot secures riders in an open-air, two-person capsule, which is then launched nearly 360 feet into the sky at speeds up to 60 mph.
Riders in the capsule will soar to the second-highest point of the Cedar Point skyline -- just below the 420-foot Top Thrill Dragster roller coaster.
After a brief feeling of weightlessness, riders will fall back toward the ground before catapulting back up and down until the capsule comes to rest back at the launching point.
Initially, SlingShot's addition was kept a secret, but the surprise was spoiled when fan sites found a Cedar Point filing with the Federal Aviation Administration regarding the ride's construction in February. Park officials announced the ride shortly after.
Manufactured by Funtime in Australia, SlingShot is located near the Gemini racing roller coaster's ride entrance.
The majority of SlingShot's structure was erected in just two days earlier this month.
