SANDUSKY, Ohio — Cedar Fair, the parent company of Cedar Point, has settled three lawsuits related to sexual assaults in the park's employee dorms.
The lawsuits were filed after WTOL's investigative series, "The Dark Side of Cedar Point," aired in May of 2022. The investigation, in partnership with sister stations WKYC in Cleveland and WBNS in Columbus, revealed that there had been dozens of sexual assault reports filed during a five-year period.
The plaintiffs were represented by Mentor-based attorney Robert DiCello, who credited the series with exposing a toxic culture inside the dorms.
"The work you did was instrumental in shining an important light on the realities of what was going on at Cedar Point," DiCello said. "Without this work, the stories of these people would never have been told."

A fourth DiCello client, a woman from the Toledo area, filed a civil lawsuit in Erie County Common Pleas court on April 23, accusing the park of negligence. She claims she was sexually harassed and threatened by a fellow employee who committed similar actions against other women and his actions were repeatedly ignored by park management. The woman claims she was then fired because she complained to human resources.
DiCello said his clients are grateful for the settlements.
"They are looking forward to rebuilding their lives and having a bright future. We were very glad to work with them. Their courage in face of what happened to them is remarkable."
