CLEVELAND — Fall is almost upon us, but there are still plenty of beautiful weather days coming before the snow and cold hit. And what better way to enjoy a beautiful late summer or early fall day than to take in the views -- and a delicious meal and drinks -- on one of Northeast Ohio's many rooftop patios? 3News Special Contributor Emily Mayfield visited two of them, where the drinks and food are just as great as the sights.
First up is Alleycat Oyster Bar in the Flats in Cleveland. Featuring a seafood-forward menu, there are also plenty of options for those who do not or cannot eat seafood. From salads, to steak and of course, oysters, there's something on the menu for everyone.
Alleycat also has a large drink menu, filled with creative concoctions like the Cat's Pajamas -- a vodka drink with lemonade, made three ways. You can get it plain, with wild berry and basil or with strawberry and jalapeno. There's also the Sailor's Delight -- a drink with Bluecoat gin, lemon, Giffard Passionfruit and velvet falernum.
The other rooftop patio featured was the one at Kindred Spirit and Garden City Rooftop, located in the Van Aken District in Shaker Heights. It is sort of a two-for-one deal, with the restaurant, Kindred Spirit, located on the ground level, and the rooftop bar, Garden City, located on the second level.
The establishment operates out of one kitchen, with a full menu on the ground level and small plates upstairs at Garden City. The menu on the rooftop is Mediterranean inspired and features hummus a couple of different ways, small salads and wood-fired skewers with both meat and vegetarian options.
Garden City's cocktail menu is extensive and features classics like Manhattans and Old Fashioneds, and signature cocktails like the Pool Boy, which is made with Ketel One vodka, simple syrup, lemon juice infused with strawberry and sage and garnished with a strawberry and a sage leaf.
No matter if you're heading out for a bite to eat, or just grabbing a couple drinks with friends, there are many options in Northeast Ohio to do both while taking in the views from a rooftop patio. Cheers!
