AKRON, Ohio — The LeBron James Family Foundation is marking another milestone with the groundbreaking of its I PROMISE Housing in Akron. Once complete, the I PROMISE Housing will offer 50 affordable longer-term apartment units ranging from two to four bedrooms for I PROMISE families.
“Within this safe and supportive community, the Foundation will provide specialized family programming and other resources to help parents, children and families reach their goals,” according to a press release from the LeBron James Family Foundation.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place Wednesday morning at the corner of Maple and Cedar in Akron. We streamed the entire event live, which you can watch in the player below:
LJFF said the I PROMISE Housing “builds on its movement to create positive, lasting change in Akron,” while listing these other projects:
- I PROMISE School.
- I PROMISE Village by Graduate Hotels that serves as transitional housing.
- I PROMISE Institute at The University of Akron providing secondary supports for our college students.
- House Three Thirty, an innovative center focused on providing job training, financial health and family programming for the entire community.
