River Valley Organizing (RVO), a non-profit organization based in East Liverpool, just a half hour away from East Palestine, will host the town hall at 6 p.m.

The community meeting will take place at Studio 25, on North Market Street in East Palestine.

The non-profit is "demanding action and accountability to keep their friends and neighbors safe" after a Norfolk Southern train carrying hazardous materials derailed on Friday, Feb. 3.

At the town hall, RVO organizers will be joined by the following to help advise community members:

  • Dr. Carla Ng, Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh
  •  Stephen Lester, Science Director, Center for Health, Environment, and Justice
  • Retired Deputy Chief Sil Caggiano, Mahoning County Hazmat
  • Fair Shake Legal Services

On Friday, environmental activist Erin Brockovich will also hold a town hall during the evening. Full details of Brockovich's visit have not yet been announced.

The announcement of the community meeting comes a day after President Joe Biden took to Twitter to affirm that it is Norfolk Southern's responsibility to clean up after the train derailment.

The EPA also ordered Norfolk Southern on Tuesday to pay for the clean-up and disposal of the hazardous materials.
