EAST PALESTINE, Ohio — A commercial vehicle hauling approximately 40,000 pounds of toxic soil from East Palestine crashed on Monday.
According to Governor Mike DeWine's office, the tractor trailer "traveled off the roadway and overturned" spilling 20,000 pounds of the soil onto the roadway and berm.
The Ohio EPA and local fire departments responded to the scene. According to the EPA, the spill was contained and does not pose a threat to any nearby waterways.
The driver sustained minor injuries in the crash.
