Interactive musical benches designed by LeMonde Studio and paid for by Destination Cleveland will be downtown for the next 3 years: VERIFY Fast Facts

The three benches light up and play the Cleveland brand anthem when you crank the wheel on the side of the art installations.

CLEVELAND — We’re always keeping an eye out for new and interesting things popping up in downtown Cleveland.

This week, we came across a post in the Ohio Road Trips Facebook group showing interactive musical benches that’s been shared almost 900 times. One person in the comments saw the benches and was afraid to use them because they thought they were part of the set for the new "Superman" movie filming downtown.

So let’s clear up any confusion about these benches with a few VERIFY Fast Facts.

Paid for by Destination Cleveland

Destination Cleveland is responsible for these benches, and they told us they're not part of any Hollywood movie set, so go ahead and enjoy them.

They light up and play music

There's a crank on the side of each bench, and when you turn it, the bench will light up and you'll hear the Cleveland brand anthem play. The audio will change over time, and volume is reduced after 7:30 p.m.

Arrived May 17, 2024 and they're staying 3 years

These benches actually arrived here nearly two months ago, and they're staying for three years.

Benches to move every year

Destination Cleveland says they'll move the benches to new spots for years 2 and 3.

3 locations in downtown Cleveland

For now, the benches are located at the intersections of West 3rd and St. Clair, East 3rd and Superior, and in the Huron Road green space across from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Made by LeMonde Studio

Destination Cleveland worked with LeMonde Studio, which is based in Montreal, to design and bring these sculptures to Cleveland. As part of Destination Cleveland's "Illuminate CLE" project, the visual interest created by these sculptures is intended to help to connect downtown districts and enhance wayfinding throughout the areas.

LeMonde Studios' 'Harmonies' coming to Cleveland on July 26 for 3 months

LeMonde Studio told us they have something new coming our way soon, too. Keep an eye out for a temporary art installation called "Harmonies" coming on July 26, featuring giant musical instruments. Once those get here, they'll also stay for 3 months.
