Verify: Was Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt in a bar fight during the weekend?

Details are sketchy

CLEVELAND — There is a lot of social media buzz over whether Kareem Hunt was in a possible bar fight in Cleveland over the weekend.

The Cleveland Browns running back is already in hot water after video surfaced of him assaulting a woman last year.

To verify, we turned to Cleveland police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia and Bobby George, owner of Barley House, where some “Twitterati” believed the incident took place.

Ciaccia said “negative,” and was unable to track down a police report for the alleged incident.

George confirmed he saw Hunt at the Barley House on Saturday night, also noting that something did happen.

“I believe it was a small argument with one of his friends,” he said. “People blew it out of proportion.”

On Monday afternoon, TMZ Sports released a video of Hunt talking to a group of police officers outside the W. 6th St. bar. A witness told the website Hunt was involved in a physical altercation with another man, although the witness was unsure if the fight was "real" or if the two were horsing around.

Hunt left the scene without incident.

George said Hunt appeared to be in good spirits and described him as “very respectful.”

Certainly not a brawl, according to George's account.

The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office and Hunt’s agent were also unable to corroborate the fight story.

Browns spokesman Peter Jean-Baptiste told the Associated Press that the team was aware of the incident, talked to Hunt and will have no further comment.

Hunt has been a controversial figure since getting a second life in the NFL last year.

The Browns picked him up after he was dropped by the Kansas City Chiefs over an incident caught on camera showing him pushing and kicking a woman at a Cleveland hotel.

Hunt has since tried to show he has changed, even getting baptized with teammates in attendance.
