Purple rain in the skies over Cleveland? The truth behind the purple lights over the city

Fear not everyone, the skies over your city are safe.

It happened again.

Monday evening, we started getting messages on social media wondering what the 'purple light' in the sky over Cleveland was.

This is not the first time we've gotten notes like this. So when a puzzle like this arises, it's best to consult with an expert. Our Chief Meteorologist Betsy Kling did a little detective work and helped figure out what was glowing in the night skies.

Yes, thanks to a little help from our friends at Cleveland Scene and Anthony on Twitter, Betsy deduced that the light was coming from a local greenhouse.

The 'culprits' are the great people over at Green City Growers Cooperative, who are converting to what they call 'more efficient LED lighting' in their greenhouse on 5800 Diamond Avenue.

So fear not everyone! The skies over your city are safe.
