Memorial Day weekend means plenty of summertime events

It's Memorial Day weekend in Cleveland, meaning it's time to get outside and enjoy yourself.

Though this weekend's forecast calls for some showers, temperatures will be warm enough to keep us in a summer state of mind.

From a number of fun food events to an event all about otters, Northeast Ohio has plenty to discover this weekend. Our Andrew Horansky had this preview of Memorial Day weekend fun across Northeast Ohio:

Berea National Rib Cook-off

What: There's no better way to celebrate Memorial Day weekend than with some BBQ. The Berea National Rib Cook-off is filled with live entertainment, family fun and of course, beer and BBQ. Try ribs from a full lineup of BBQ pros, sample beer from a handful of brewers and listen to one of several live bands. Learn more here.

Chagrin Falls Blossom Time Festival

What: Celebrate one of the biggest weekends in Chagrin Falls with the Blossom Time Festival. You'll find a carnival at the center of it all, but the weekend features a full line-up of other activities. The Balloon Glow on Thursday is one of the main attractions, while Taste of Chagrin features food trucks and local eateries. The music festival showcases live acts from the area and the parade is a complete celebration of the full weekend. Learn more here.

City Ballet of Cleveland

What: See the City Ballet's spring repertory concert for a performance of Sleeping Beauty and Carnival of the Animals. Get tickets here.

When: Saturday 7-9 p.m.

Float the River

What: Float along the Cuyahoga River in your own tube this summer. It's Float the River's opening weekend, so grab your swimsuit and get ready for a two-hour tubing adventure. Cost is $20 per tube rental. Learn more here.

Forbidden Frontier grand opening at Cedar Point

What: There’s a new adventure nestled in the shadows of Cedar Point’s monstrous roller coasters. Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island is the new highlight attraction for 2019, which offers an interactive, immersive experience filled with live actors, games, challenges, a massive playground and secret missions encompassed within an evolving story that changes every time you step foot on the island. Ode to Otters

What: You otter head to the Akron Zoo Saturday morning to learn all about these cute, furry creatures. Ode to Otters features a breakfast buffet, crafts, cookie decorating and more, and it's all about otters. You'll even get to see a special training session with the zoo's resident river otters, including new resident Odie. Get tickets here.

Reggae Fest Cleveland

What: Grab some Red Stripe and jam to some reggae this weekend. Four bands will perform throughout the evening, starting with Jah Messengers and ending with Tropidelic. Food trucks will also be on hand to keep you fed, while adult beverages will also be up for purchase. Get tickets here.

Rock the Lock

What: Enjoy a full summer of free music starting this Friday with Rock the Lock in Akron. Lock 3 will feature free, live music on Fridays, starting with Crush, a Bon Jovi tribute band this week. Learn more here.

Taste of Summer

What: Kick off your favorite season by sampling foods from your favorite Cleveland eateries. The three-day event takes place by the river, making it a perfect weekend to enjoy all the activities, which include games, a bounce house, an obstacle course, volleyball and more. Learn more here.

Tremont Greek Festival
