CLEVELAND — April 8, 2024, is going to be a big Monday in Cleveland.
That date not only marks the moment Northeast Ohio will experience a total solar eclipse, but it’s also when the Cleveland Guardians will host their Home Opener against the Chicago White Sox at Progressive Field.
The team announced the date for the 2024 Home Opener on Thursday when releasing their full schedule for the regular season. Their season begins on the road a few days earlier against the Oakland Athletics on Thursday, March 28.
While the home Opener’s start time has not yet been determined, we already have a minute-by-minute breakdown of when the eclipse will happen across the sky here in Northeast Ohio.
NASA says the eclipse will begin at 1:59 p.m. in Cleveland. Totality begins at 3:13 p.m. with maximum effect at 3:15 p.m. Totality ends around 3:17 p.m. before the partial eclipse finishes at 4:29 p.m.
