Avon Lake City Schools offering $20 parking spots for solar eclipse

The parking spots will be $20 each and must be paid in cash.

AVON LAKE, Ohio — As Lorain County prepares thousands of travelers for the April 8 total solar eclipse, the Avon Lake City School District is offering parking spots for visitors. 

The Avon Lake City School District announced on Monday that they are offering parking for $20 per spot. Proceeds from the parking fees will benefit various groups/organizations within the school district and the city, according to organizers.

Each spot must be purchased with cash. The lot will open at 10 a.m. and will close when it's full. 

Below are the following locations that you can park:

  • Eastview Elementary School, 230 Lear Road, supporting the Avon Lake High School Drama Club
  • Erieview Elementary School, 32630 Electric Blvd, supporting Erieview PTA
  • Redwood Elementary School, 32967 Redwood Blvd, supporting the Avon Lake High School Girls Basketball Team
  • Westview Elementary School, 155 Moore Road, supporting Westview PTA
  • Troy Intermediate School, 237 Belmar Blvd, supporting the Avon Lake High School Girls Basketball Team
  • Learwood Middle School, 340 Lear Road, supporting Friends of Avon Lake
  • Avon Lake High School, 175 Avon Belden Road, supporting the City of Avon Lake

Here is when the solar eclipse is expected to impact Avon Lake: 

  • Partial eclipse begins: 1:58:52 p.m.
  • Totality begins: 3:13:16 p.m.
  • Maximum eclipse: 3:15:12 p.m.
  • Totality ends: 3:17:09 p.m.
  • Partial eclipse ends: 4:28:38 p.m.
