CLEVELAND — March Madness is here.
The Mid-American Conference men's and women's basketball tournament is returning to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland this week.
The women's quarterfinal games will begin on Wednesday, March 13, and the men's tournament will start on Thursday, March 14.
Northeast Ohio will be well-represented in the tournament, as Kent State and Akron will both be playing in the men's tournament, looking to punch a ticket to the NCAA Tournament. Kent State will be the lone Northeast Ohio school playing in the women's tournament.

2024 MAC Men's Basketball Tournament Bracket
Kent State men's basketball
The 2023 MAC men's basketball tournament champions, the Golden Flashes, secured the No. 8 seed in the 2024 tournament after posting a 15-16, 8-10 MAC record. On Thursday, the team will play in a re-match against the No. 1 ranked Toledo Rockets. Tip-off is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 14.
Akron men's basketball
The No. 2 Zips are set to take on the Miami RedHawks in the quarterfinals of the MAC tournament. During the regular season, the Zips finished with a 21-10, 13-5 MAC record. The Zips come into Cleveland with St. Martin De Porres High School graduate Enrique Freeman, who was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Year on Wednesday.
