The "quack" is back.
And so are the Lake County Captains.
While the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic wiped out the entire 2020 Minor League Baseball season, the sport is set to make its return in 2021. That includes in Northeast Ohio, where the Cleveland Indians' Double-A affiliate, the Akron RubberDucks, and High-A affiliate, the Lake County Captains, each announced their upcoming schedules on Thursday.
The RubberDucks will begin their season at Akron's Canal Park on May 4 with a game against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. The contest is featured as one of 23 firework nights at the ballpark, in which a fireworks display will take place after the game.
“Despite all the snow we’ve seen this week, we are already thinking ahead to baseball and warmer weather after receiving our schedule for this upcoming season,” Akron RubberDucks General Manager Jim Pfander said in a statement. “We’re so excited for RubberDucks baseball to return to Akron, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safest possible environment for our fans and community this summer at Canal Park.”
