College Football Playoff rankings: Georgia takes over top spot, Ohio State falls to No. 2

The CFP semifinals will be played in the Rose and Sugar bowls on Jan. 1. The national championship game is scheduled for Jan. 8 in Houston.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State Buckeyes dropped to No. 2 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesday night. The Georgia Bulldogs take over the top spot after a dominating win over Ole Miss at home. 

Ohio State was also impressive in last week's win, but it came against a struggling Michigan State team that is at the bottom of the Big Ten East. 

Michigan, Florida State and Washington round out the top five in the latest playoff rankings.

Ohio State hosts Minnesota next weekend ahead of the Nov. 25 showdown with Michigan, now embroiled in a sign-stealing scandal that led to a suspension for coach Jim Harbaugh. The Wolverines beat Penn State 24-15 on Saturday.
