BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland native Jerome Baker was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft Friday night.

The former Benedictine High School star and standout defender for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Baker was selected by Miami with the ninth pick of the third round, which was the 73rd overall choice in the 2018 NFL Draft.

In three years with the Buckeyes, Baker registered 90 solo tackles, 68 assists and 158 total stops with seven sacks, 17.5 tackles for lost yardage, two interceptions, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries and three passes defended.

After appearing in just seven games as a freshman in 2015, Baker became a stalwart for the Buckeyes’ defense, as he played in 13 games in each of those seasons, registering at least 40 solo tackles and 30 assists with 3.5 sacks.
