PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Jacy Sheldon had 32 points and Stark County native Taylor Mikesell added 21 as Ohio State beat Rutgers Sunday afternoon for its sixth straight win.
It's the fourth time this season Sheldon has scored at least 30, with three of those performances coming in the last four games. The junior from Dublin threw up 23 shots and made 10 of them, including four from 3-point range.
OSU (15-3, 7-2 Big Ten) made almost 10% fewer shots than Rutgers (42%) yet still led for most of the game. Osh Brown had 24 points and eight rebounds, but the Scarlet Knights (7-13, 0-8) had 19 turnovers that led to 31 points for the Buckeyes. Rutgers has also lost six in a row.
With a conference title still a real possibility, the Buckeyes will head back to Columbus to host archrival Michigan Thursday night. The Bucks fell 90-71 to the now-eighth-ranked Wolverines back on New Year's Eve.
