Ryan Day won't take the field for his first game as Ohio State's full-time head coach until Aug. 31.
But he won't have to wait that long to run his first practice while in charge of the Buckeyes' program.
On Friday, Ohio State announced its practice schedule for this year's spring football -- the first since Day took over for Urban Meyer at the end of the 2018 season. The Buckeyes will first take the practice field on March 4, before departing for spring break from March 11-15. Ohio State will conclude spring practice with its annual spring game, which will take place at Ohio Stadium on April 13.
In addition to Day -- and a revamped coaching staff -- taking over for Meyer, the Buckeyes will be featuring some fresh faces on the field this offseason.
Earlier this month, former Georgia quarterback Justin Fields announced he'd be transferring to Ohio State. The former 5-star recruit and No. 2 prospect in the 2018 class is listed on the Buckeyes' spring roster and could very well succeed Dwayne Haskins as the team's starting quarterback after Haskins announced his intentions to enter the 2019 NFL Draft.
Fields -- whose transfer led to the departure of quarterback Tate Martell, who announced this week he's heading to Miami -- won't be the only new face in Columbus this spring. According to Ohio State, six members of its 2019 recruiting class have already enrolled and will participate in spring practice, including 5-star wide receiver Garrett Wilson and 5-star defensive end Zach Harrison.
The Buckeyes will kick off their 2019 season -- and the Day era at Ohio State -- when they host Florida Atlantic on Aug. 31.
