Ohio State is coming off a bye week.
But even while idle, the Buckeyes managed to improve their standing in the college football world.
On Monday, BetOnline released its latest odds for the remainder of the college football season. And in doing so, the website named Ohio State its new favorite to win the 2020 College Football Playoff with the Buckeyes jumping previous favorite Alabama.
After laying claim to 3/1 national title odds a week ago, Ohio State is now listed as a 5/2 favorite. The Crimson Tide's title odds remain at 11/4, which are the same odds listed for the defending national champion, Clemson.
LSU, which faces Alabama on Saturday, lays claim to the fourth-best championship odds at 9/2. Georgia (10/1), Oregon (16/1), Oklahoma (20/1), Penn State (20/1), Utah (40/1) and Baylor (66/1) round out the top 10.
In addition to the latest College Football Playoff odds, the Buckeyes find themselves well represented on the latest list of odds to win this season's Heisman Trophy. While LSU (and former Ohio State) quarterback Joe Burrow remains the favorite at 10/11, Buckeyes quarterback Justin Fields (15/2) and defensive end Chase Young (8/1) rank fourth and fifth, respectively, trailing Burrow, Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts (5/2) and Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (15/4).
