6 Buckeyes ruled out for Purdue game

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State will be without six Buckeyes as they take on Purdue on Saturday.

Caffey, a running back for the Buckeyes, is out for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury. Left tackle Simmons was also ruled out for the season with a knee injury.

  • Purdue is the last unranked team to beat Ohio State. The Boilermakers beat the No. 2 Buckeyes 49-20 in 2018.
  • Ohio State has won 10 straight home games against Purdue, dating to Purdue’s 31-26 victory in 1988.
  • The winning team between Ohio State and Purdue in the last four games has scored at least 40 points, the first time in history of the series for such a streak of points.
  • Ohio State has played two top 5 teams on the road (No. 3 Oregon and No. 3 Penn State) in one season for just the third time. The other two times came in 1960 and 1997.
  • Jeremiah Smith broke the Ohio State freshman record for most receiving yards in a season. He's also 3 catches shy of breaking the freshman receptions record.
