Former Ohio State assistant football coach Zach Smith was arrested on Thursday for violating a civil protection order, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
According to The Enquirer, the Delaware County Sheriff's Office said Smith became confrontational with staff members at Scioto Ridge Elementary School when they did not allow him to pick up his children.
Smith was fired in the summer of 2018 amid a series of domestic abuse allegations over several years. An investigation concluded then-head coach Urban Meyer mishandled repeated professional and behavioral problems from Smith.
Meyer and athletic director Gene Smith were suspended for their handling of Smith, who is the grandson of Meyer mentor Earle Bruce. Smith had been Ohio State's wide receivers coach since 2012, when Meyer first took over the team.
Smith denied abusing his wife and was not charged with domestic violence. In October, he pled guilty to disorderly conduct, which was reduced from criminal trespassing based on a complaint filed by his ex-wife.
