COLUMBUS, Ohio -- If ain't broke, don't fix it.
That seemed to be Dwyane Haskins thinking as the Ohio State quarterback looked to extend the Buckeyes' lead. After finding Chris Olave for a 24-yard touchdown throw on Ohio State's first offensive drive of the game, Haskins once again hooked up with the freshman wide receiver-- on another 24-yard pass, no less -- to give the Buckeyes a 14-6 lead over Michigan with 9:08 remaining in the second quarter.
After entering Saturday with 5 catches for 70 yards on the season, it's safe to say Olave is enjoying a breakout performance -- and doing so on one of football's biggest stages.
Ranked 10th in the nation, the Buckeyes entered Saturday's matchup with the No. 4 Wolverines with a trip to the Big Ten Championship Game on the line. With a 10-1 record and No. 19 Northwestern waiting in Indianapolis next week, Ohio State's hopes of making the College Football Playoff remain alive -- although it's possible the Buckeyes will also need some help.
But before Ohio State can worry about its postseason plans, it must first worry about beating its rival for a seventh straight season. With the way Haskins and Olave have been playing, the Buckeyes could be well on their way toward doing just that.
