CLEVELAND — Wow, we can get used to this kind of football, right? Another strong defensive performance by the Cleveland Browns.
It looked similar to that Week 1 drubbing of the Cincinnati Bengals, didn't it? An opponent unable to find its strike, and a Browns' defense that played with a purpose. They were were flying to the football, making tackles, and disrupting the opposing offense.
Jim Schwartz, he gets an A+ so far, and so does his defense.
In the end, it's the Browns 27, the Titans 3, and Cleveland is now 2-1 heading into an early important divisional showdown with the Baltimore Ravens. But before we look ahead to the Ravens, let's give this coaching staff, this team, everybody the proper credit they deserve. They flushed that loss on Monday night to the Steelers.
Remember, it was a physical game, the kind of game that had to take a toll on them. They didn't let it, and they didn't let Nick Chubb's season-ending injury get them down. In fact, it fueled them, it motivated them.
The Browns looked ready today. They felt prepared, they were the better team, and they played like it.
Are there still some things that we could kind of say, "Alright, offensively, what are they doing? Is Deshaun Watson still doing some things that kind of make you scratch your head a little bit?" Sure, but I give this Browns team a lot of credit. They moved on from Week 2, won in Week 3, and set themselves up for a big Week 4.
That's life in the NFL, right? It sounds cliche, it sounds like coachspeak, but the Browns refocused and flushed that loss to the Steelers, and 2-1 is better then feeling bad for yourselves and finding a way to lose this game today that you never should've.
The Browns are 2-1 on the strength of another nasty — and I mean nasty — defensive, and an offense that may be slowly finding its identity here. Is this team perfect? Of course not, but a Victory Sunday to set up a Victory Monday? We're not going to complain about that ever.
