Ohio State football schedule for the 2024 season

The second-ranked Buckeyes kickoff the season at home against the Akron Zips. Ohio State has won 24 consecutive season-opening games.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State Buckeyes start the 2024 college football season ranked No. 2 in both the AP and Coaches polls. 

The Buckeyes will play their first three games at home, first hosting the Akron Zips from the Mid American Conference. Ohio State has won 24 consecutive season-opening games.

Big Ten play starts for the Scarlet and Gray on Sept. 28 when head coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes travel to East Lansing to take on Michigan State. 

Ohio State will face newly added Big Ten member Oregon on Oct. 12 in Eugene. Other notable tests for the Buckeyes include traveling to Penn State on Nov. 2 and the final game of the season at home against rival Michigan.

  • Nov. 9 – Purdue
  • Nov. 16 – at Northwestern
  • Nov. 23 – Indiana
  • Nov. 30 – Michigan (Noon, FOX)

2024 postseason college football schedule 

The Big Ten Championship Game will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. 

The first round of the 12-team College Football Playoffs begins on Friday, Dec. 20. The title game will be played Monday, Jan. 20 at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
