What to expect for the Ohio State-Tennessee College Football Playoff game

From "Scarlet The Shoe" to a drone light show, Ohio State seems to be gearing up for a memorable game day.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State is just a couple of days away from hosting its first game in December as the Buckeyes welcome the Tennessee Volunteers for the first round of the College Football Playoffs.

The Buckeyes earned the No. 8 seed after finishing the season 10-2 with losses to Oregon and Michigan. Ohio State will get a rematch with the Ducks in the Rose Bowl if the Buckeyes beat the No. 9 Volunteers.

Scarlet The Shoe

The Buckeyes will be wearing the nearly all-scarlet uniform they wore during the Penn State game in 2021.

The uniform includes a scarlet jersey, pants, socks, base layers, gloves and spokes with the traditional pattern on the shoulders and down the side of the legs.

In addition, Ohio State wants fans to "Scarlet The Shoe" by wearing all scarlet for the big game. That means jackets, coats, gloves, hoodies, pants, etc. Whatever you got that's scarlet, Ohio State wants you to wear it.

Drone Light Show

Ohio State has put out some seemingly cryptic posts on X alluding to a light show during the game. In the post on X, a drone shot over Ohio Stadium shows scarlet lights pulsing in the stadium.

Caleb Clark, the assistant director of fan experience and promotions, told 10TV's Nicole Shearin that fans will see the largest drone show in college athletics, with 500 drones involved. They will fly over the south stands during the break between the third and fourth quarters.

Know Before You Go

Besides wanting fans to wear scarlet, Ohio State is asking people to download the latest version of the Ohio State Buckeyes app. Fans are asked to download tickets and parking passes to their mobile wallets ahead of game day.

Ohio State wants fans to drive safely and leave home early to allow themselves time to get to campus.

And, of course, be the best fans in the land.

Tickets

Tickets for the game sold out, but there are plenty of verified resale tickets on Ticketmaster, Stubhub and other websites. Some tickets are as low as $106.

What to know about parking for the game

Ohio State created an interactive map of what parking will be available on the day of the game.
