Wadsworth beats Medina 28-7 in WKYC.com's Game of the Week; St. Ignatius gets first win

Senior receiver Carson Risher caught two first half touchdowns.

In a battle of Medina County heavyweights, the Wadsworth Grizzlies extended their regular season winning streak to 14 games with a comfortable 28-7 win over the Medina Battling Bees in WKYC.com's High School Football Game of the Week.

Senior receiver Carson Risher picked up right where he left off following last week's 266-yard performance, catching two first half touchdown passes from quarterback Trey Shaffer. Sophomore Tyler Montgomery also caught a TD to ice the game for the Grizzlies in the fourth quarter.

While Chris Kelly did have a second quarter score to make it a 14-7 game, mistakes doomed the Bees throughout the night, including back-to-back interceptions by QB Ryan Fischer (with one right by the goal line).

At 3-0, Wadsworth will open Suburban League play next week against Nordonia, while 2-1 Medina will gets things going in the Greater Cleveland Conference when they hit the road to take on Euclid.

ST. IGNATIUS 21, EUCLID 6

After a disappointing 0-2 start, the Wildcats were finally able to get in the win column by thoroughly dominating the Panthers. Connor Cmiel caught two touchdowns from Patrick Delahunty, and special teamer Mitch Puhalsky added a score on a blocked punt.

MAPLE HEIGHTS 38, EASTLAKE NORTH 7

Despite only leading by 13 at halftime, the Mustangs were able to put the hammer down in the second half thanks to three big plays: Touchdown passes of 90, 50, and 93 yards from quarterback Devin Dial to Antione Holloway and De'Von Fox (who caught the last two). In all, Dial had five TD passes on the night.
