SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — Thursday night's Shaker Heights High School girls basketball home game against Louisville has been canceled due to what officials are calling "a possible threat" that came in this afternoon.
Details regarding the incident are unknown at this time, but the district confirms the threat was directly related to tonight's matchup. As such, administrators "immediately enacted our emergency protocol" and called the game off "out of an abundance of caution."
It is unknown if the contest will be played at a later date, but Louisville has since shared a message on its Facebook page letting fans know they "will post when it is rescheduled." Shaker Heights police are currently investigating the matter.
Ironically, today's news comes more than three months after a separate "potential threat" forced Shaker Heights to play a home football game without fans. The latest issue has no bearing on classes, as all schools are closed through Jan. 3 due to the district's winter recess.
