SOLON, Ohio — By seeding, they should've been the underdog, but the Chardon Hilltoppers looked like anything but on Friday night.
The top team in Geauga County thoroughly dominated the previously unbeaten Streetsboro Wildcats 35-0 in WKYC.com's High School Football Game of the Week. Chardon scored on the game's opening drive and never looked back.
James Pettyjohn led the way with three touchdown runs, two in the first half. In addition, Brady Toth had a 25-yard interception return for a score that made it 14-0 and signaled early trouble for Streetsboro.
There was a scary moment in the second quarter when a Rockets player went down with an injury and had to be taken off the field on a stretcher. While there was no immediate update on his condition, the lack of urgency by the medical staff led us to believe the injury was thankfully not as bad as it may have looked.
Chardon (10-2) will take on unbeaten Aurora in next week's Division III Region 9 final at a to-be-determined neutral site.
