CLEVELAND — In what has seemingly become an annual tradition at Glenville High School, another Tarblooder is heading to the United States Army All-American Bowl.
On Thursday, senior linebacker Arvell Reese was presented with his jersey for the game, which is considered the premier high school football All-Star exhibition. The 2023 edition of the game will be played at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, January 7, and will feature the nation's top outgoing high school seniors.
Rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, Reese ranks as the No. 4 prospect in the state of Ohio and the No. 16 linebacker in the country. This past August, he committed to Ohio State, choosing the Buckeyes over offers from Alabama, Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Penn State, Southern California, Virginia Tech and West Virginia, among others.
In heading to Ohio State, Reese joins a long list of Glenville stars who have opted to spend their college careers in Columbus. That list includes the son of Glenville head coach Ted Ginn Sr., Ted Ginn Jr., as well as quarterback Troy Smith, safety Donte Whitner, safety Jamario O'Neal, wide receiver Ray Small, defensive lineman Robert Rose, safety/linebacker Jermale Hines, offensive lineman Bryant Browning, safety Christian Bryant cornerback Marshon Lattimore, linebacker Chris Worley and quarterback Cardale Jones, among others.
Last week, the Tarblooders advanced to the third round of Division 4 Playoffs with a 43-6 victory over Bellevue. Laying claim to an 11-0 record, Glenville will return to action at 7 p.m. on Saturday when it faces 10-2 Elyria Catholic in the Regional Semifinals.
