CHARDON, Ohio — Sisters of Notre Dame, get ready to celebrate!
This Friday's matchup between the Benedictine Bengals and Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions will be featured as WKYC.com's latest High School Football Game of the Week. The game took home 52% of the more than 3,100 votes cast.
It's a North Coast League rivalry showdown between two of Northeast Ohio's premier Roman Catholic schools. Benedictine (5-1, 0-1 NCL) is coming off a tough 42-10 loss to mighty Archbishop Hoban but remains one of the best teams in Division II. They are led by Charles Rosser, an Akron commit who is rated as one of the region's top wide receivers.
On the other side, NDCL (3-3, 0-1) is in desperate need of a win following a heartbreaking one-point defeat at the hands of Padua Franciscan. To get back over .500, they will likely have to ride the legs of senior running back Jimmy Mitchell, who had over 200 yards and four touchdowns in their last victory over Bedford.
Dave "Dino" DeNatale and Mark "Munch" Bishop will call the game live (via audio only) starting at 6:50 p.m. from Chardon. You can listen on WKYC.com, the 3News app, and the 3News Facebook and YouTube pages.
