CLEVELAND — Scroll down for the latest poll, or vote here!
High school football is officially under way in Northeast Ohio, and as expected, it was an eventful first weekend of action.
From the big schools to the small towns, fans and players alike were excited to return to the glow of the "Friday Night Lights." What made it more special was the fact that most stadiums allowed the seats to be filled to full capacity for the first time in almost two years.
Most of the favorites won their opening tilts, some by blowout fashion. However, the best matchup may have come in the WKYC.com Game of the Week, where Benedictine knocked off rival Walsh Jesuit 35-34 in double overtime.
Fast forward to this week, and WKYC Studios once again has three great games to choose from:
- St. Ignatius (0-1) vs. Mentor (1-0)
- Avon Lake (1-0) vs. Brecksville-Broadview Heights (0-1)
- Granger Highland (1-0) vs. North Royalton (1-0)
Voting will close at 12:30 p.m. this Wednesday. You can make your selections in the poll below, and one lucky fan will earn a free meal from Chick-fil-A!
(NOTE: If you are having trouble accessing the poll, you can also find it here)
Once the final results are tallied, 3News' Dave "Dino" DeNatale and Tyler Carey will announce the winner on their weekly high school football preview show. On Friday night, Dino will then call the game live via audio stream at 7 p.m. on WKYC.com, the WKYC app, and the WKYC YouTube page, with video highlights featured later on that night's edition of "What's Next" at 11.
We can't wait to see where you send us. Good luck to all the schools involved!
