Independence senior first baseman Ricky Dolejs
Independence High School baseball senior captain Ricky Dolejs is off to a hot start.
In the Blue Devils’ first two games, the second-year starting first baseman batted .500 while tallying a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.
“Ricky brings hard work every day to the game,” Independence baseball coach Mike Gruber said. “He does not hesitate to help out a younger athlete and sets the tone for each practice by being an example for everyone.”
As a junior, Dolejs posted a .366 batting average and a .418 on-base percentage.
